2025 - What A Year!
Message from the Manager
This past year brought growth, compassion, and community together in powerful ways. From breaking ground on our building expansion and advancing construction through the support of generous donors, to being honored as Non-Profit of the Year and receiving the RI Hope Award, 2025 was filled with meaningful milestones.
At the heart of it all were our programs - supporting neighbors through our Vacation Nutrition Program, Senior Program, Produce Day, and large seasonal efforts like our Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions.
This past year also brought an unprecedented wave of need during the SNAP crisis and government shutdown in October. With more clients needing food than ever before and wait lines out the door, we were stunned at the outpouring of generosity from the community. We received a flood of food donations, going straight to helping those who need it most. "Thankful" doesn't begin to describe our sentiment!
Food drives, community partnerships, outreach events, volunteer efforts, behind-the-scenes work; too many to list, but each one making a tremendous difference. Thank you to our volunteers, donors, partners, and neighbors for making this incredible year possible.
Kristin Jahne, Pantry Manager
Holiday Roundup
The holiday season far exceeded expectations, both in the amount of food we provided to our local families and the generosity of the community! The "Let's Talk Turkey" Thanksgiving program helped 502 of our neighbors, providing a full turkey meal with fixings. Our Christmas program provided food for 473 families, far exceeding every year prior.
The need continues to grow, and we're here to help!
Recent Construction
Construction of our new addition and renovation continues into 2026! We are thankful to announce that we are on-time and on-budget, a rare feat for a commercial project of this scale, due in no small part to our talented team. We will be moving into the new addition at the end of February, and will provide additional details as this important date gets closer. This photo below shows the building addition exterior with the new solar panels.
We'll keep you updated on building progress with each monthly newsletter, and make sure to visit our NK Food Pantry Facebook and Instagram pages for more behind the scenes of our expansion.
