July 2021 Newsletter
Happy 4th of July Pantry Supporters! We ended our reheatable meal program for the year, but we are receiving lots of fresh produce from numerous sources including the Stony Lane outdoor garden and Ocean State Community Garden. If you have an abundance of fresh vegetables that you don’t know what to do with, the NK Food Pantry will take it! (Note- we cannot take eggs laid by your family chicken, we can only give out USDA eggs.) In July we will start to receive farm fresh fruits as well. Thank you for your support and helping to feed the hungry people of North Kingstown!
Stay tuned for the July changes!
We recently had a successful visit from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Mobile Bus. The mobile bus interacts with folks and gives out nutritional tips and does demonstrations. The bus staff was impressed by our Thursday crowd of visitors who come to the Pantry for our fresh produce day. The Bus will return to the Pantry later this summer!
The Pantry has recently implemented new donation software that efficiently processes gifts and helps the Pantry thank all our very generous donors in a timely fashion. When making a donation to the Pantry, it’s easy to visit our website, www.nkfoodpantry.org, and use our new online donation form. Donors who prefer the convenience of online giving will now see a form designed for donating to the Pantry. Our online donors will receive an instant email thank you and tax receipt, helping the Pantry to go green and conserve postage, paper and volunteer time. For donors who prefer writing a check, giving cash or donating food, providing us with your email address will allow us to thank you for your generosity in a timely manner.
This summer the NK Food Pantry is recertifying our clients to update our client database and to give our clients new information on our programs.
