April 2021 Newsletter
Welcome to Spring! Things are blooming at the Pantry as we continue with feeding hungry folks.
We have a Thursday program at which our clients drive up and receive fresh fruits and vegetables, personal hygiene items, PPE, and other food which we are getting in bulk. Stephen Souls, our operations manager, sends a message to our clients on Tuesday to tell them the latest weeks available items. He provides a link so clients can state what they want, and when they come to the Pantry between 10am-2pm, their items are bagged and ready. We have cars lined up to attain these great items. We are purchasing more gluten free items and other allergy free items for our clients as they have expressed a need for such items.
For the last two months, clients were also given one night’s dinner of reheatable meals. This is a hugely popular program with over 200 people showing up each Thursday. The Board decided to continue the program until North Kingstown Schools let out in June. We are happy the program is popular with our clients. We thank you for our support to meet our mission and feed the hungry people of North Kingstown!
A special thank you to North Kingstown High School junior Jacob Silversmith. Jacob was the last person to make a donation in March before the pandemic. This year, he donated 89 pounds of hygiene products which have been a continuous need at the pantry over the past year. Great job Jacob!
Being able to provide toiletries continues to be the most beneficial for our clients of the pantry. These two residents of Wickford Point made a donation to us after their toiletry drive! Thank you W.P!
Thank you to Jill Chirnside who represents the Wickford Cove Condominium Association, for your food drive as well as a monetary donation to help out the North Kingstown food pantry!
Thank you to the North Kingstown School Department Central Administration staff for their recent donation of $84.50 from recent dress-down day proceeds. Pictured is recently retired HR Supervisor Debbie Gardiner. Congrats, Debbie!
Thank you to the North Kingstown Post 152 and Boy Scout Troop 152 for putting together the Valentine’s Day food drive. 608 lbs. were donated to support NKFP and Operation Stand Down RI! Another thank you to all those who stopped by to donate!
