Happy Thanksgiving

November 2020 Newsletter

Happy Thanksgiving Pantry Supporters!

It is November & that means it is the Pantry’s largest distribution of the year, Thanksgiving! Each year, the Pantry gives out the fixings for a full thanksgiving dinner, complete with a turkey to be cooked, plus a weekend’s worth of groceries. Richard Jacques coordinates this effort to get donations for each of the basket items. If you are interested in sponsoring an item, look at the list to see what is available. http://www.nkfoodpantry.org/lets-talk-turkey We give out the Thanksgiving baskets on the Tuesday (Nov. 24th) before Thanksgiving so clients have a chance to thaw the turkey and make a pie before the big day. In the past we had lots of helpers come to the Pantry to help with putting boxes together. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, please make reservations ahead of time because we cannot have too many people at the Pantry.

If you know of someone who is having issues getting food and lives in North Kingstown, please have them call and make an appointment at the Pantry. We will not turn anyone away. Thank you for all your help in helping us meet our mission, we could not do this without the help of our community!

Sincerely,
Kim Page

Mom is Proud of Son...and So Are We!

Hello! My 7th grade son, Jake Charlton provided a 1,000 dollar check last week to the NK Food Pantry from the sales of homemade cookies he made and sold over the past several months. He provided a personal statement that he would like shared as well as the pics attached. “Hello! My name is Jake Charlton. I launched “Cookies For Charity” with 100% of the proceeds going towards the NK Food Pantry. I started this because I wanted to channel my energy and free time towards something that would help my fellow neighbors, especially kids my age who may be struggling with food insecurities. The NK Food Pantry has helped many families and I’m honored to be able to help. Please stay tuned for cookie plates for the upcoming year. My cookies are homemade and we deliver all over RI. All proceeds will continue to go towards the pantry.”

NKFP Cardboard Guy

Farewell to the Cardboard Guy

Mike Dynon, aka, The CardBoard Guy, is stepping down from this volunteer position after over 5 years of service. The NKFP receives hundreds of boxes every week and they quickly take up much need space. Mike saw the problem and spend every Tuesday and Friday breaking down cardboard boxes and transporting them to the transfer station. Big Thanks, Mike.
